The Boston Children's Aid Society Records, 1863-1953.

The Boston Children's Aid Society (BCAS) was established in 1861 to provide homes for children just released from jail. The BCAS soon made its aim to help destitute and homeless children in and around Boston. In 1947 the BCAS and Boston Society for the Care of Girls legally merged as the Children's Aid Association (CAA). The collection includes annual reports from 1863-1953 with occasional gaps, an article about the home libraries of the BCAS, as well as a pamphlet promoting the BCAS.
